GreenYellow and Cemex Colombia Inaugurate a Solar Carport: Another Step Towards Energy Transition
GreenYellow Colombia and Cemex Colombia recently inaugurated an innovative solar carport at Cemex’s Ibagué site in Colombia, marking a major step forward in the company’s energy transition strategy. This project embodies a model for integrating renewable energies into industrial operations, while helping to preserve the environment.
Optimizing energy costs and reducing carbon footprint
Thanks to this project in Colombia, Cemex now benefits from a modern energy solution, combining efficiency and respect for the environment. The initiative is based on the installation of a series of Solar Carports equipped with solar panels, maximizing the use of existing surfaces to produce green energy.
A high-performance, long-lasting installation
This project, with an installed capacity of 131 kWp, is equipped with 240 solar panels that cover 36% of the Cemex site’s energy needs. This solution significantly reduces CO2 emissions and improves energy efficiency. Here are some key figures for this project:
- 216 MWh of green energy produced each year,
- 107 tonnes of CO2 equivalent avoided annually,
- A carbon saving equivalent to the preservation of 518 trees.
This project is concrete proof of Cemex’s commitment to the environment through its “Future in Action” strategy, aimed at reducing its carbon footprint while demonstrating that sustainable energy solutions can bring benefits for both the company and the environment.
