GREENYELLOW AND FRUEHAUF: AN EMBLEMATIC SEMI-TRAILER PARKING SOLAR CARPORT PROJECT TO ACCELERATE THE ENERGY TRANSITION IN AUXERRE

GreenYellow, leader in decentralized energy transition, and Fruehauf, a major player in the French trailer and semi-trailer market, and one of the first internationally recognized brands, are proud to announce the implementation of an ambitious solar project aimed at combining economic performance and respect for the environment.

Fruehauf’s production site in Auxerre, employing 600 people, will now be equipped with 16 photovoltaic parking lot Solar Carports over 5 meters high, covering an area of 52,000 m². The Solar Carports, which vary in length from 150 to 350 metres, will have a total capacity of 11 MWp, generating an estimated annual output of 12.7 GWh, equivalent to the energy consumption of 2,800 inhabitants.

MAJOR ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECONOMIC BENEFITS

This partnership is a concrete example of our commitment to energy transition:
Reducing CO2 emissions by 621 tonnes per year, equivalent to planting 3,105 trees.
Accelerating the energy transition of built-up areas, despite technical design challenges.
Optimization of land resources: use of available land while maintaining semi-trailer storage activities.
Sustainability: this project is part of a long-term vision with a 30-year PPA contract.

AN EXAMPLE OF MANAGING LOGISTICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSTRAINTS

Built in 6 phases to minimize the impact on Fruehauf’s day-to-day business, this project illustrates innovative management of logistical and environmental constraints. Each construction phase, representing a capacity of 2 MWp, was completed within 3 months. In order to optimize the contractors’ schedule and speed up implementation, GreenYellow rented an adjoining plot of land, enabling them to work on two phases in parallel, generating a 3-month reduction in completion time. In addition, GreenYellow demonstrated its ability to adapt to site requirements, such as water law constraints, as the project is located in a drinking water catchment area for the Auxerre conurbation.

This project represents a major step forward in the solarization of heavy transport systems, and an example of how sustainable and efficient solutions can be integrated into an industrial environment.
“This project marks a key stage in our sustainable development approach. It reflects the perfect alliance between innovation and environmental responsibility, and we are proud to work with a partner such as GreenYellow. This project is fully in line with Fruehauf’s CSR strategy, which aims to combine economic performance, reduction of our carbon footprint and social commitment”. says Philippe LE POCHAT, Sales & Marketing Director at Fruehauf.
Romain BUTTE, Managing Director of GreenYellow France, comments: “Our mission is to support companies like Fruehauf in their energy transition, combining economic performance with a positive ecological impact. This emblematic project in Auxerre positions itself as a benchmark in the solarization of parking lots dedicated to heavy transport.”

PROMISING LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL PROSPECTS

This partnership could also pave the way for other collaborations, both locally and internationally, thanks to Fruehauf’s membership of the Wielton Group, which operates in five countries. GreenYellow and Fruehauf are already planning to deploy similar solutions at other sites, and to encourage local businesses to get involved in sustainable energy projects.
