GreenYellow signs a 15-year partnership with Benteler to supply the burgos factory in Madrid with solar energy
GreenYellow, a leader in decentralized energy transition, is partnering with BENTELER, a global provider of automotive parts for car manufacturers, energy, and mechanical engineering sectors, to supply its factory in Burgos, Spain, with solar energy over a period of 15 years.
This future solar PV plant will enable the site to cover 26.5% of its energy consumption, by self-consuming 89% of the produced green energy.
The green electricity will come from a 3.6 MWp photovoltaic plant, built one kilometer away from the factory with the support of Abasol, a Spanish specialist in renewable energy technical solutions. With an estimated production of 5.7 GWh per year, the installation will enable the self-consumption of clean, local energy while supporting BENTELER’s commitments to a sustainable industry. A 1-kilometer medium voltage line will connect BENTELER’s facilities to the GreenYellow plant, which is equipped with single axis trackers that optimize the tilt of the panels to capture maximum solar energy.
For BENTELER, a long-standing player committed to sustainability initiatives, this collaboration marks an additional step in its environmental strategy aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy. GreenYellow, which is continuing its expansion in Spain through its subsidiary GreenYellow España, emphasizes the importance of developing partnerships with local players and supporting the industrial fabric of the country, as illustrated by its technical collaboration with Abasol.
Nicolas Daunis, General Manager of GreenYellow Iberia, is pleased with this alliance with BENTELER: “This agreement marks a new step in our development in Spain, a market with immense potential. GreenYellow is determined to act positively for the local economy and industry while promoting cleaner and more sustainable energy.”
For his part, Roberto Cossío, Director of the BENTELER plant in Burgos, adds: “For over 145 years, our group has been committed to combining economic success with social responsibility. This partnership with GreenYellow strengthens our ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) approach, which has been at the heart of our family business for four generations.”
Through this alliance, BENTELER and GreenYellow are joining forces to address current energy and environmental challenges while supporting the local economy and contributing to a more sustainable future.
