Two new solar power commissioned in Colombia
GreenYellow Colombia has just commissioned 2 new solar farms in the Meta region.
GreenYellow Colombia has taken a significant step forward in its mission of environmental sustainability and energy transition with the commissioning of two new PV plants. These #SHIFTProduction projects encompass a total installed capacity of 28.6 MWp and mark a major step forward in the decarbonization of Colombia’s Meta region.
The Versalles and Dinamarca solar farms not only symbolize a commitment to clean energy, they also embody technological innovation. Indeed, the solar panels are mounted on a structure equipped with advanced technology that tracks the sun’s path throughout the day, optimizing their energy performance.
Some key project figures:
- These two PV plants cover a combined area of more than 40 hectares and generate enough power to meet the annual consumption of 42,000 Colombian households.
- What’s more, these installations will prevent the emission of 24,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, a carbon benefit equivalent to the planting of 740,000 new trees in the country.
Since their commissioning, these projects have been injecting clean, local and cost-effective energy into the Colombian power grid. This contribution is essential to greening the country’s energy mix and reducing its dependence on fossil fuels.
In conclusion, the Versalles and Dinamarca power plants represent a concrete step towards a more sustainable energy future for Colombia, while demonstrating GreenYellow Colombia‘s commitment to the environment and innovation.
