Solar PV Client Case – BIEDRONKA
Biedronka, Poland’s largest retail chain, is accelerating the implementation of its sustainable development strategy by powering more than 2,000 stores with clean solar energy.
Project context
As part of a major step forward in the energy transition, Biedronka has equipped more than 2,072 stores across Poland with solar power systems, marking a key milestone in its renewable energy strategy.
Starting in 2022 with just eight stores equipped with solar panels, the chain has significantly expanded the scope of its project over the course of three years, establishing itself as a leader in the implementation of renewable energy within the Polish retail sector.
In June 2025, the chain reached a record level of renewable energy production at 17,500 MWh, thereby directly reducing its carbon footprint and generating a tangible positive impact on the environment. Solar energy is used directly on-site to power store operations, including lighting, refrigeration systems, and checkout counters, while helping to optimize operating costs and meet climate goals.
