GreenYellow continues its growth in Italy with a new 3.1 MWp
self-consumption solar project for Calme in Orciano Pisano

GreenYellow, an international player in decarbonization and flexible electrification, is supporting Calme, an independent Italian producer of cement, lime and hydraulic binders since 1976, in its energy transition at its Orciano Pisano industrial site, thanks to a 3.1 MWp solar PV plant designed to cover nearly 80% of the site’s energy needs. The solar plant is scheduled to be commissioned in Q2 2027.

More than 4.3 GWh of solar energy generated annually to meet Calme’s energy needs

This future 3.1 MWp solar PV plant, to be installed at Calme’s industrial site in Orciano, in the province of Pisa, will be designed to closely match the site’s energy needs. It will enable Calme to generate renewable energy locally for self-consumption, covering approximately 80% of its electricity consumption, with annual production exceeding 4.3 GWh.

Developed under a 20-year on-site PPA, the project is based on GreenYellow’s Energy-as-a-Service model. The Group will provide 100% of the financing for the installation, as well as its design, construction, operation and maintenance throughout the contract term. Calme will therefore benefit from a dedicated photovoltaic solution, generated directly on its site, with no upfront investment or operational management of the infrastructure required.

This model enables Calme to preserve its investment capacity for its core business while benefiting, over the long term, from a competitive source of renewable electricity. The plant will also help avoid the emission of more than 1,886 tonnes of CO₂ per year, equivalent to the average annual emissions of nearly 1,522 households.

For Calme, this project represents a concrete lever to reduce the carbon footprint of its industrial operations, manage energy costs and increase the share of renewable energy in its energy mix, while relying on a financing model that does not require the company to allocate its own financial resources.

“This project represents a strategic milestone in Calme’s sustainable growth journey. Integrating a solar PV installation of this scale at our Orciano Pisano site will enable us to significantly reduce our environmental impact while improving the energy efficiency of our production processes. Our collaboration with GreenYellow reflects an industrial vision that combines innovation, responsibility and competitiveness — all essential dimensions in addressing the future challenges facing our sector,” said Calme’s management.

“We are proud to support Calme on its decarbonization journey. This new project demonstrates our ability to provide Italian companies with concrete, competitive and fully financed energy solutions, enabling them to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy without the need for upfront CAPEX. Italy is a strategic market for GreenYellow, and we are continuing to expand our activities to support an increasing number of companies in transforming their energy systems,” said Pierre Marouby, Country Manager of GreenYellow Italia.

Italy, a strategic market for the energy transition

The Calme project is part of a development dynamic already underway for GreenYellow in Italy, where the Group currently has more than 30 MWp of solar PV capacity installed or under construction.

This growing presence represents a first step in GreenYellow’s broader support for Italian C&I companies in their energy transformation. GreenYellow goes beyond renewable energy generation: the Group supports its clients in their decarbonization, electrification and flexibility journeys, combining energy infrastructure, industrial expertise and financing solutions.

Against a backdrop of volatile energy prices, growing electrification of energy uses and accelerating decarbonization targets, GreenYellow deploys tailor-made, decentralized and financed solutions adapted to each company’s operational constraints. Through its Energy-as-a-Service model, GreenYellow makes energy a lever for decarbonization, competitiveness and resilience for Italian businesses.
