GreenYellow and GIVA enter a 20-year partnership based on the ‘Energy-as-a-Service’ model to enhance the value of existing self-consumption photovoltaic plants
The agreement covers two solar plants located at GIVA’s industrial sites in Lombardy, representing a total installed capacity of 11 MWp and an annual production of 15.5 GWh of renewable electricity, 100% self-consumed.
Through GreenYellow’s ‘Energy-as-a-Service’ model, the industrial company can unlock the value of its energy assets, free up capital for its core business activities, and continue benefiting from locally generated renewable energy to cover part of its electricity needs.
GreenYellow, an international leader in the decentralised energy transition, and GIVA, an industrial group specializing in the production of steel products, announce the signing of a 20-year ‘Energy-as-a-Service’ agreement for two photovoltaic power plants located on GIVA’s industrial sites in Italy.
This transaction illustrates a new approach to industrial energy transition: unlocking the value of existing energy assets by transforming a capital-intensive investment into a long-term energy service. This enables GIVA to continue benefiting from the advantages of self-consumption while entrusting the complete management of its installations to an expert partner.
Under this agreement, GreenYellow will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, performance optimization, and value enhancement of the two PV plants, ensuring their long-term efficiency.
For GIVA, this ‘Energy-as-a-Service’ model preserves the economic and environmental benefits of its solar installations while allowing the company to reallocate its financial resources to strategic business activities.
The two plants have a combined installed capacity of 11 MWp: an 8 MWp ground-mounted solar plant equipped with solar trackers at the Visano site and a 3 MWp rooftop solar plant at the Cella Dati site.
Together, they generate nearly 15.5 GWh of renewable electricity annually, covering approximately 50% of the energy needs of the two industrial sites. This production avoids more than 6,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 8,000 households.
“Our partnership with GreenYellow enables us to fully preserve our industrial strategy. We are continuing our decarbonization efforts, reducing risks, and lowering the energy costs of our industrial sites, while ensuring the cash flow required to finance our strategic investments supporting the growth of our business. In an ever-changing environment, the ability to identify effective solutions aligned with our objectives is essential to continue creating sustainable value.” Jacopo Longhi Vienna, CEO of GIVA.
“Industrial companies are no longer looking only for renewable energy generation solutions: they are seeking models that simultaneously improve their competitiveness, financial flexibility, and energy resilience. Energy-as-a-Service meets this need by transforming energy assets into a long-term performance service. Through this partnership, GIVA continues to benefit from its on-site renewable electricity, while GreenYellow ensures the operation and optimization of the installations for twenty years.” Pierre Marouby, Country Manager of GreenYellow Italia.
Une évolution vers une énergie servicielle
This project reflects the evolution of the energy market towards models that enable companies to benefit from high-performance energy solutions without necessarily having to bear the investments on their balance sheet or assume the associated risks alone.
In addition to developing new photovoltaic installations, GreenYellow supports industrial companies in unlocking the value of their existing energy assets to accelerate their energy transition while optimizing capital allocation.
