GreenYellow and Orange join forces to solarize its Data Center in Poland

  • GreenYellow, a leader in decentralized energy transition in France and abroad, and Polish telecommunications giant Orange Polska have signed an agreement to solarize the Warsaw Data Hub, one of Poland’s largest data centers.
  • This 20-year contract is based on the innovative PVaaS (Photovoltaic-as-a-Service) model. GreenYellow will be responsible for the financing, construction, maintenance and upkeep of the solar rooftop plant, enabling Orange Polska to benefit from green, local and competitive energy, 100% self-consumed on site and without any initial investment.

Real and lasting benefits

The 299 kWp photovoltaic power plant, installed on the roof of the Warsaw Data Hub in Lesznowola, will produce 250 MWh of green energy per year, for a total of 5,000 MWh over the life of the contract.

This energy will be entirely self-consumed by the site, avoiding injection into the local grid and reducing distribution costs for Orange Polska. The project will also avoid the emission of 3,200 tonnes of CO2 emissions over the entire period, marking a significant step forward in reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

An innovative partnership model

Thanks to the PVaaS model, GreenYellow will assume the investment costs, offering Orange Polska an effective decarbonization solution without straining its credit capacity. GreenYellow Polska’s teams will provide a turnkey service, from analysis of energy solutions to complete system management, investment planning and installation.

“We are delighted to be working with one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies. We are closely monitoring the challenges facing this sector and responding to them with our platform of decarbonization offerings. The scope of the agreement is tailored to Orange Polska’s individual needs and addresses the client’s real problems. The long-term benefits we guarantee the client – both financial and environmental – are an integral part of the agreement”, states Anna Dobrowolska, Sales Director at GreenYellow Polska.

GreenYellow continues its mission as a committed gas pedal of the energy transition, supporting a sector that consumes a lot of energy in its decarbonization actions. Moreover, this project is fully in line with GreenYellow’s development strategy in Europe, launched in 2022.
