Innodis and GreenYellow: the first two plants commissioned as part of an 8.2 MWp solar program in Mauritius

Ferme solaire GreenYellow pour Innodis à Maurice

The Mauritian group Innodis, a diversified agri-food company with activities notably in the poultry and dairy sectors, is continuing to expand its renewable electricity generation capacity with GreenYellow, an international energy partner for C&I companies and an orchestrator of decarbonization, electrification of uses and energy flexibility. Two first photovoltaic plants, with a combined capacity of 4.2 MWp, have just been commissioned in Arsenal. The project will ultimately comprise four plants with a total capacity of 8.2 MWp and annual generation of 12.5 GWh, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of nearly 4,500 Mauritian households.

From commitment to renewable power generation

As the agri-food sector accelerates its energy transition, Innodis and GreenYellow in Mauritius are taking a first step with the commissioning of two photovoltaic plants in Arsenal, in the north of the island.

The two installations will generate more than 6.5 GWh of renewable electricity per year, fed into the Mauritian electricity grid, and will avoid approximately 4,620 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year. They are among the first off-site CNIS projects connected to Mauritius’ electricity grid, under the Carbon Neutral Industrial Sector Renewable Energy Scheme.

“Good today. Better tomorrow!

This is an idea that we strive to translate into concrete action through the decisions we make. We have chosen to accelerate our renewable energy efforts, and we are very pleased today to see these first photovoltaic plants generating renewable electricity. For Innodis, this is an important milestone: we are demonstrating that, in our sector too, it is possible to turn ambition into concrete achievements. And our journey does not stop here, as several other projects are already under development.” said Jean-Pierre Lim Kong, CEO of the Innodis Group.

Developing new renewable generation capacity

These two first plants, dedicated to the Poultry activity (the Group’s poultry sector), are part of a four-plant photovoltaic program. The rollout is continuing, notably with the construction of a new plant for the Dairy activity (the Group’s dairy sector).

This initiative reflects Innodis’ commitment to gradually evolving its energy mix and increasing the share of renewable energy across its operations. It embodies the Group’s philosophy: Doing better tomorrow starts with the decisions we make today!

For GreenYellow, solar generation is one of the levers that can be mobilized as part of the orchestration of companies’ energy transition. It can be combined with other solutions – energy efficiency, electrification of uses, energy storage and flexibility – depending on the characteristics of each site, its needs and its decarbonization pathway.

“With the commissioning of these first plants, we are reaching an important milestone with Innodis: the first renewable generation capacities are now operational, and the rollout is continuing with new installations already under construction. This project reflects our commitment to supporting Innodis over the long term, mobilizing the energy solutions best suited to its needs and decarbonization pathway.” added Benoît Regnard, General Manager of GreenYellow Austral.
